Host: Todd Snitchler, President and CEO, Electric Power Supply Association

Guest: Scott Miller, Executive Director, Western Power Trading Forum

In this episode of Energy Solutions, EPSA President and CEO Todd Snitchler sits down with Executive Director of the Western Power Trading Forum Scott Miller. Listen in as Todd and Scott discuss the unique reliability challenges the U.S. West faces, and why many are advocating to expand power markets are to enhance power system reliability, decarbonize the grid, and lower electricity costs.

Scott also discusses takeaways from the Western energy crisis in 2000, why finding a middle ground is necessary for sound energy policy, how to properly compensate and retain essential natural gas resources, and opportunities he sees for emerging technology to meet future energy needs.

“The big issue with capacity has always been, in my estimation, for now having done this 25 years, is we all know we need it. And we all may even know that, generally speaking, what the level of capacity we need is. It’s always pricing it, is the big issue.”

Scott Miller, Western Power Trading Forum
