WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA), the national trade association representing America’s competitive power suppliers with more than 90,000 MW of power generation capacity in the PJM Interconnection region and more than 205,000 MW of power generation capacity nationwide, today issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement outlining a plan to build large-scale power plants to meet data center demand and strengthen grid reliability and affordability:
“EPSA and its members are committed to engaging with the Trump Administration, FERC, and PJM to continue our success in delivering power that is reliable and affordable, and to ensure that market-based solutions, regulatory certainty, and the removal of non-market barriers to development remain central to meeting America’s growing energy needs and delivering on the Trump Administration’s goals.
With electricity demand rising for the first time in decades, competitive power suppliers are already responding with significant private investment, including more than 12,000 megawatts of new generation, uprates, and restarts announced in PJM since 2024 and novel new arrangements with data center developers. These investments—made at investor risk—are strengthening reliability while protecting customers from unnecessary costs.”
