Statement from EPSA President and CEO Todd Snitchler on Senate Confirmation of FERC Commissioners David LaCerte and Laura Swett

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA), the national trade association representing America’s competitive power suppliers, welcomed today’s Senate votes to confirm David LaCerte and Laura Swett to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Todd Snitchler, president and CEO of the Electric Power Supply Association, EPSA, issued the following statement:
“With power demand rising, reliability pressures growing, and electricity costs top of mind as we face the significant need to retain needed resources and ensure investment in and development of new resources and infrastructure, FERC’s decisions will directly impact America’s energy future.
Competitive power suppliers are already investing tens of billions of dollars each year to build, upgrade, and maintain natural gas, nuclear, storage, and renewable resources. But long-term investment requires confidence in the rules of the road. That’s why steady federal oversight is critical. Reducing uncertainty and ensuring that competitive auctions are run regularly, fairly, and transparently will help unlock the private capital needed to strengthen our grid, support economic growth, and meet rising demand from manufacturing, electrification, and AI.
We congratulate Commissioners LaCerte and Swett on their confirmations and look forward to their engagement on energy issues at this pivotal moment. We welcome their commitment to maintaining FERC’s independence, while focusing on reliability, affordability, and fair, competitive outcomes.
That commitment is critical to ensuring the regulatory framework needed to attract investment, enable innovation, and keep the grid reliable for consumers nationwide.
