Electricity Trade Associations Comment on FERC’s Internal Network Security Monitoring NOPR

By EPSA

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BEFORE THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION

Internal Network Security Monitoring for High and Medium Impact Bulk Electric System Cyber Systems } Docket No. RM22-3-000

COMMENTS OF THE EDISON ELECTRIC INSTITUTE, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC
POWER ASSOCIATION, THE LARGE PUBLIC POWER COUNCIL, THE NATIONAL
RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION, AND THE ELECTRIC POWER
SUPPLY ASSOCIATION

EPSA joined a coalition of electricity trade associations including the Edison Electric Institute, the American Public Power Association, the Large Public Power Council, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in filing comments on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Internal Network Security Monitoring (INSM) (RM22-3).

Together, the “Trade Associations” note that the implementation of INSM in some form may improve the security posture of responsible entities owning or operating high impact BES Cyber Systems. However, there are significant obstacles to the near-term implementation of this technology. The Trade Associations ask FERC to convene a forum to further discuss the matter.

EPSA also commented separately on the matter. View Here
