With the holidays here and the new year ahead, it’s a time for celebration and giving back. Across the country, competitive power suppliers are stepping up to brighten the season for the communities they serve. From electric bill assistance to charitable donations and community events, Calpine, Constellation, Competitive Power Ventures, Energy Capital Partners, Invenergy, Shell, Talen Energy, TXU Energy, and Vistra are continuing their long-standing traditions of holiday initiatives that help families stay warm, supported, and cared for during the coldest months. Calpine Corporation: Matching Donations to Deliver Care for Families
Calpine Corporation is matching donations to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation up to $20,000, along with an unlimited match on employee donations to deliver care to children and families across Alberta, Canada.
Constellation Energy: Partnering to Fight Food Insecurity in Baltimore
Constellation Energy partnered with the Ed Reed Foundation in Baltimore to pack meals for students and their families as part of the foundation’s Thanksgiving Blessings initiative, which provides over 10,000 meals to families across the community.
Competitive Power Ventures: Strengthening Local Communities Through Food Security
Competitive Power Ventures remains committed to partnering with its local communities and supporting initiatives that have a positive impact on its neighbors. This holiday season, the company continued its tradition by focusing on efforts that address food insecurity.
At CPV Three Rivers Energy Center, the team once again partnered with We Care of Grundy County. This year’s contribution directly supported the organization’s backpack program – a food security initiative that supports access to weekend meals for more than 150 individuals across the region. The donation reflects CPV Three Rivers’ longstanding commitment of supporting families and individuals across Grundy County.
Closer to CPV offices, employees from the Silver Spring and Braintree offices volunteered at The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), two organizations working every day to reduce food insecurity. Across both offices, the CPV team made a meaningful impact packing nearly 2,500 boxes that will provide 22,000 meals for people in need.
Energy Capital Partners: Supporting Women and Families During the Holidays
Energy Capital Partners embraced the holiday spirit of giving by partnering with Turning Point Community Services, a New Jersey women’s shelter, for its third year in a row. TPCS provides emergency short-term shelter, support, and services to help women in the community break free from situations of abuse and homelessness. In addition to volunteering their time, ECP sponsored 17 families getting each family member a warm coat, one to two outfits, and an item from their holiday wish lists. ECP team members dedicated their time, energy, and skills to making a difference in many families’ lives.
Food insecurity is a growing problem across the U.S. As part of Invenergy’s commitment to helping its communities, the company works with local organizations to help close that gap.
Invenergy: Investing in Food Access Nationwide
In November, Invenergy started the holiday season by making a $25,000 donation directly to food banks in Feeding America’s network, supporting local communities across multiple states. In total, Invenergy has contributed more than $65,000 to nearly 30 food pantries across the nation in 2025 alone.
Beyond financial contributions, Invenergy employees have dedicated more than 365 volunteer hours at local food pantries this year—packing meals, sorting supplies, and lending a hand to families in need—reflecting Invenergy’s ongoing partnership with local organizations working to build stronger, healthier communities.
LS Power: Powering Communities Through Service and Employee Leadership
This holiday season, LS Power’s EmPOWERing Women Group in NYC transformed a planned one-day volunteer activity into a week-long partnership with Letters of Love, creating handwritten holiday cards for children and families spending the holidays in hospitals, and showcasing the leadership and compassion of LS Power’s women-led employee community.
Across LS Power’s Grid platform, teams embraced the season of giving:
- California supported AMOR’s Thanksgiving food distribution in Fresno and sponsored the Vacaville Police Activities League’s Shop with a Cop event for local students.
- New York contributed $10,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, with Albany team members volunteering on-site.
- Missouri is running a food drive for the Parkway School District Food Pantry, with volunteers serving next week.
From coast to coast, LS Power employees are powering communities through service this holiday season.
Shell: Spreading Holiday Cheer Through Service and Giving
In December, Shell launched its Season of Caring with Operation Stocking Stuffer, the annual toy drive with the Houston Fire Department that will do a face-to-face gift distribution at multiple sites across Houston to approximately 25,000 children and their families. Along with donating, sorting, packaging and distributing gifts, Shell volunteers also helped parents at Ronald McDonald House Houston shop for gifts for their children receiving critical care at the TX Medical Center. Shell’s Season of Caring will conclude with their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in January.
Talen Energy: Giving Back Across the Fleet
Each year, teams across Talen Energy’s fleet organize events to give back to their communities during the holidays.
Employees at Talen’s Montour plant in Pennsylvania collected over 200 toys and gifts to fulfill the wishes of children and families as part of their local Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. They also collected two overflowing bins of toys for their local Toys for Tots drive.
The team at Talen’s Susquehanna plant in Pennsylvania participated in their local Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Each year, station employees fulfill all the wishes on the Salvation Army’s tree to provide gifts to over 300 families. They also stock the Salvation Army’s pantry with food, diapers and other necessities.
Talen Allentown, PA office employees participated in the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley’s Holiday Hope Chest program, fulfilling wishes of children and families served by Camelot for Children. They donated over 60 toys and nearly $1,000 in gift cards and enjoyed an afternoon together sorting and packing donations.
At Talen’s location in The Woodlands, TX, employees volunteered their time at the Montgomery County Food Bank. The team filled 548 boxes totaling 10,754 pounds of food that will provide 8,961 meals to their neighbors! Employees also donated toys and other gifts to Interfaith Ministries’ 2025 Holiday Giving for Montgomery County program. The monetary donations will benefit seniors and families, and the toys will support children in the community.
The team at Talen’s Colstrip, MT plant supported several community organizations and events this holiday season. They made monetary donations to the Have a Heart Christmas Tree program, which provides gifts to those in need, United Community Church to support their children’s Christmas Store and to support the Tongue River Shelter. They donated gifts to the Lame Deer Women’s Club for the children’s Christmas Store and also supported the Colstrip, Samaritan Pantry, and St. Labre Youth and Family food banks.
Vistra and TXU Energy: Helping Families Stay Warm and Bright This Winter
Vistra Corp. and its flagship retail brand, TXU Energy, are spreading the holiday spirit through their annual Winter Warmth campaign. The program helps customers, communities, and nonprofit partners through a number of events including distributing groceries, holiday turkeys, and blankets to prepare for the winter ahead. This year, they have committed $350,000 to help families put food on the table and keep their homes warm and bright.
In addition, TXU Energy Aid has provided an additional $200,000 to their Energy Aid program to help customers pay their bills this holiday season. These funds are donated by employees, customers, and TXU Energy.
Vistra also hosted a coat drive on behalf of Helping Hands Open Hearts and collected over 100 coats and jackets to distribute to children, men, and women in Dallas.
TXU Energy is also sponsoring the Houston Zoo’s annual Zoo Lights display for the 13th year in a row. This event has become a tradition for thousands of families, and TXU Energy is proud to help make their season bright.
